Diet and Exercise on Holiday
Especially with the holidays coming up, it's so easy to avoid diet and exercise! No matter how many New Year resolutions I make, no matter how many goalposts I set for myself in either of these two areas, I find myself slowly but surely slipping back to my bad old ways. Any pangs of guilt put up by my puny conscience are effectively assuaged by the first spoonfuls of cream-smothered pie or a few minutes in couch-potato-land.
It’s not for want of trying – I have a good collection of diet books and I’m always the first one to try the latest weight loss fads (and almost always the first one to quit them as well!).
On top of that I went and bought myself a couple of home exercise machines – and now use them in the store-room as handy utilities on which to hang odds and ends. I joined a gym and hardly ever sighted the place again – so much so that my friend commented that, “You know you don’t automatically lose weight just because you pay the gym membership fee – you actually have to go there regularly and exercise!”
So any one of you out there who has cracked the puzzle of how NOT to avoid exercise and a balanced diet … do share the secret of your success with me!
